Autofocus Topic

Autofocus is a feature that uses sensor feedback to control axis motion. Use the Autofocus topic to manually configure autofocus-related parameters. This topic and its modules are in the Axes category of the Configure workspace in Automation1 Studio.

HARDWARE: Autofocus does not apply when used with the GI4, the GL4, or the XL4s.

Inputs Module

The Inputs module lets you specify the input to the Autofocus loop and the deadband value. You can also select a digital input that holds the output of the Autofocus loop.

For information about the structure of the autofocus loop and how to tune it, see Autofocus Functions. Also see the parameters that follow:

Gains Module

The Gains module lets you tune the performance of the Autofocus loop and apply a scale factor to the final position command. You can also specify the target feedforward gain in User Units/Volt.

For information about the structure of the autofocus loop and how to tune it, see Autofocus Functions. Also see the parameters that follow:

Tracking Module

The Tracking module lets you configure settings related to autofocus behavior, such as loop polarity and autofocus limits. You can also control axis behavior, specify the target value for the autofocus loop, and specify the auxiliary feedback value for an Auxiliary Encoder input.

For information about the structure of the autofocus loop and how to tune it, see Autofocus Functions. Also see the parameters that follow:

Thresholds Module

The Thresholds module lets you set the lower and upper limits to which the autofocus loop commands the axis to move. You can also set the maximum speed of the axis.
