Parameters

You can edit parameters in many of the modules in the Configure workspace.

Some parameter-editing modules have two modes:

  • Basic Editing  The User Interface lets you interact with the controller to calculate parameter values.
  • Advanced Editing  You directly edit the values of each parameter.

Some parameters have a pencil icon that shows an editor to help you enter the parameter value.

When you change parameters, the Discard and Save All buttons show in the menu. To see a summary of unsaved changes, click the View Parameter Changes link.

You can use Quick Compare to compare parameter values in the Configure workspace between two different axes or two different tasks, or you can compare parameter values in the Configure workspace with parameters from a Machine Controller Definition file (MCD) file. See the Quick Compare section of the Automation1 Studio page for more information.

You can copy parameter values in individual modules between two different axes or two different tasks.

  • When you are in a module that lets you directly edit axis parameters, click the menu in the header. Click Copy parameters to… to copy the parameters in that module from the selected axis to other axes. Click Copy parameters from… to copy the parameters for that module from another axis to the selected axis.
  • When you are in a module that lets you directly edit task parameters, click the … menu in the header. Click Copy parameters to… to copy the parameters in that module from the selected task to other tasks. Click Copy parameters from… to copy the parameters for that module from another task to the selected task.

You can also use Quick Compare to copy parameter values between two different axes, two different tasks, or from a Machine Controller Definition (MCD) file. You can copy individual parameter values, parameter values from a specific topic, or all parameters from an axis or task. See the Quick Compare section of the Automation1 Studio page for more information.

The topics in the Configure workspace are organized into these categories:

  • Controller  The topics in the controller category supply functionality that is not specific to an axis or a task. Refer to Controller Category.
  • Axes  Each topic in the axes category lets you directly edit axis parameters. Some topics also have modules with a user interface to let you interact with the controller to calculate parameter values. Refer to Axes Category.
  • Tasks  Each topic in the tasks category lets you directly edit task parameters. Refer to Tasks Category.
