Galvo Overview

Automation1 supports galvo marking when you use it with GI4 or GL4 hardware. The GI4 and GL4 are galvo drives that control a galvo scanner.

IMPORTANT: Galvo functionality is available only when you use a PC-based controller.

WARNING: The GI4 and GL4 can control a laser scan system. Obey all laser safety rules when you install and use one of these galvo drives. You are responsible for the safety of your laser system.

Learn the basic tools that you need to use a galvo system with Automation1.

Working With Galvo 2D Axis Calibration Tables on the Calibration Topic page tells you how to create, open, edit, and merge Galvo 2D Axis Calibration files for your Aerotech controller.

For information about Galvo programming features and their syntax, see Galvo Functions.

Use Galvo Power Correction to correct the laser power output on the galvo axis of a galvo drive for the GL4.

Infinite Field of View (IFOV)

The IFOV feature supplies seamless marking over a field of view that is larger than the field of view of the galvo scan head. The controller combines the motion of the galvo scan head with the motion of traditional servo axes to extend the field of view of the galvo scan head.

For more information, including AeroScript IFOV functions, see Infinite Field of View (IFOV)

For a comprehensive guide to using IFOV, refer to the IFOV Setup Guide for Automation1 Studio.

Enhanced Scanner Control (ESC)

Enhanced Scanner Control (ESC) is a hardware and software option that you can order for the GL4 two-axis laser scan-head drive. This option uses an advanced system model to decrease tracking error. For more information, see Enhanced Scanner Control (ESC).
