PC Configuration
The list that follows includes information about Advantech PCs. This information is for reference only.
-
Aerotech recommends Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 (not Windows 10 Professional) so that you have more control over automatic updates. Windows 11 is not supported on this platform.
-
Windows must be installed in Legacy boot mode (EFI booting is not supported for real-time performance).
-
The PC should be configured with two RAM sticks so that you can use dual channel memory.
-
You can customize the size of your SSD.
-
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics has better real-time performance than a dedicated graphics card.
Aerotech used the configuration in the table that follows when testing the AIMB-785 motherboard.

Required Custom Configuration
The list that follows includes information for how to configure optional features when using the AIMB-785. This information is for reference only.
-
VGA / Video Monitor operation: The AIMB-785G2-00A2U BIOS always shows that a VGA monitor is connected. This lets Windows operate without a monitor connected. If the user connects a single (DVI) monitor, the BIOS reports to Windows that a second, VGA monitor is connected. The user must mirror the Windows desktop to both monitors or configure Windows to use the DVI monitor as the primary display.
-
SATA port: Connect SATA devices to the red SATA0 or SATA1 port connectors only. Do not connect SATA devices to the blue ports. This causes problems with the real-time performance of the controller. Do not connect RAID storage devices. They are not permitted.
