Before you use the PrimaryEncoderMultiplicationFactor parameter:

  1. Set the FeedbackInput0 Parameter or the FeedbackInput1 Parameter to Primary Feedback.
  2. Set the PrimaryFeedbackType Parameter to one of the values that follow:
    • IncrementalEncoderSineWave
    • AbsoluteEncoderEnDatwithSineWaveIncremental
    • AbsoluteEncoderBiSSwithSineWaveIncremental

IMPORTANT: If you change the value of this parameter, you must adjust other parameters.

The PrimaryEncoderMultiplicationFactor parameter specifies the multiplication factor of the encoder multiplier module of the drive. If you set this parameter to a value greater than 1, then the effective resolution of the encoder increases by the factor that you specify.

The multiplier module is designed to work only with encoders that generate an analog output. The primary encoder multiplier module applies only when you connect an encoder to the primary encoder input.

The table that follows gives the maximum values of this parameter by drive type.

If your drive is configured to use an encoder multiplier with an -MX2, -MX3, -CT2, or -CT4 multiplier option, quadrature is generated only if the quadrature multiplication factor is greater than 4.

The quadrature multiplication factor is equal to the value of the PrimaryEncoderMultiplicationFactor parameter divided by the value of the PrimaryEmulatedQuadratureDivider parameter. See to the equation that follows.
