Data Collection Presets

Data collection presets are predefined data collection configurations that are stored on your controller and can be applied using the Configure Signals dialog. You can add presets to your controller with one of these methods:

You can manage the presets that are stored on your controller with the Data Collection Presets module in the Configure workspace.

To create a new preset

  1. In Automation1 Studio, select the Configure tab to go to the Configure workspace.

  2. In the Controller category, select the Data Collection topic.

  3. Click the Add New Preset button. The Data Collection Presets editor comes into view.

  4. Use the 1D and 2D/3D tabs to configure signals for 1D or 2D/3D data collection.

  5. Use the Preset Name and Description (optional) fields to identify your preset.

  6. Use the Period (msec) drop-down to configure the sampling period for data collection.

  7. Use the Time to Collect (msec) field to specify the quantity of time for which data is collected.

  8. Select the source of the data signals to add. On the 1D tab, use the Context for signals drop-down. On the 2D/3D tab, after you select an option to get started, use the Context drop-down.

    1. System - Configure the system-based signals.

    2. Axis - Configure data signals for one or more axes.

    3. Task - Configure data signals for one or more tasks.

    4. Industrial Ethernet - Configure data signals for your Industrial Ethernet connections (for 1D only).

    5. IMPORTANT: Industrial Ethernet signals will not be saved to a Data Collection Preset.

  9. Configure the signals for your preset in the Signals column (1D) or in the Signal drop-down (2D/3D). See the Configure Signals Dialog sections of 1D Data Collection, 2D Data Collection, and 3D Data Collection for more information.

  10. Click the Create button to save your preset.

To Convert a Plot File to a Preset

  1. In Automation1 Studio, select the Visualize tab.

  2. Collect a new plot or open an existing plot file.

  3. Click Edit Plot to open the Edit Plot dialog.

  4. Click the Convert to Preset... button in the bottom left corner to bring the Convert to Preset dialog into view.

  5. Use the Preset Name and Description (optional) fields to identify your preset.

  6. Use the toggle to include either all signals or only visible signals from the plot configuration to the new preset. When toggled on, this option only saves visible signals. When toggled off, this option saves all signals. The toggle is on by default.

  7. Click the Convert button to create your preset.
