Migrating the A3200 Configuration
At this time, you can start to migrate your A3200 system to Automation1. You will use some additional tools to complete this process.
- Navigate to the folder where you extracted the files from the
A3200ToAutomation1Migration.zip
file. - Make sure that folder has an A3200ParametersToAutomation1 folder.
- Copy your A3200 active parameter file to the A3200ParametersToAutomation1 folder.
- In this folder, drag the A3200 active parameter file onto the A3200ParametersToAutomation1.exe file. This process makes an Automation1 Machine Controller Definition file that has the same name as your A3200 active parameter file.
- A dialog that is named after the file path of the A3200ParametersToAutomation1 folder comes into view. If the controller returns an error or if a warning occurs, make sure that you correct the problem. Then press any key to continue. The dialog closes.
- In the A3200ParametersToAutomation1 folder, make sure that you have an Automation1 Machine Controller Definition file that has the same name as your A3200 active parameter file.
- Open Automation1 Studio.
- Ignore all the errors and warnings that might occur.
- In the top-left corner of the application, select the Configure tab to make sure that you are in the Configure workspace.
- In the left panel, scroll to the top and find the Controller category. Then select the Administration topic.
- Click the Upload MCD button. An Upload Configuration dialog comes into view and asks you to continue. Click Yes.
- In the Upload MCD dialog, click Select File. Then browse to and select the Automation1 Machine Controller Definition file that you made in a previous step.
- Click the Next button to navigate to the MCD Configuration milestone of the Upload MCD dialog. Under the Configuration Data section, make sure that Parameters and Machine Setup is set to the Upload action.
- Click the Next button to do an inspection of the data in each milestone until you are on the Summary milestone of the Upload MCD dialog. Click the Finish button to complete the upload of the Automation1 Machine Controller Definition file to your controller.
Tip: If you cannot find the extracted files, you can download them again by clicking A3200ToAutomation1Migration.zip. Then extract them to a folder on your PC.
Tip: If your PC is not configured to show file extensions, drag the A3200 active parameter file onto the A3200ParametersToAutomation1.exe file that uses Application as the Type of file.
When you migrate the controller parameters, this process does not complete your system. Many of the A3200 parameters that you migrate are different in Automation1. Thus you must manually configure these parameters based on your system.
IMPORTANT: Manually configuring these parameters is part of the process that you do when you re-tune your system. For information about which parts of your system to re-tune and when to do this, see the Re-tuning Your System section of this guide.
