Open-Loop Tuning Disturbance (Excitation Time & Percent Average Current)

The Excitation Time (ms) and Percent Average Current control the disturbance magnitude for Open Loop Tuning. Together they make the symmetric square wave of open-loop current that the controller injects into the motor. Aerotech recommends that you start with a value of 40 ms for the Excitation Time (ms) and a value of 25% for the Percent Average Current. If the Open Loop Tuning quality estimate is less than 50%, it might be possible to make the quality estimate better by increasing the Excitation Time (ms) or Percent Average Current. You can also try increasing these two values at the same time.
