Low-Pass Filter Type

A low-pass filter decreases the effects of high-frequency noise in the feedback control effort. The magnitude of high-frequency content in the servo loop is attenuated, with the attenuation starting at the cutoff frequency of the filter. Aerotech recommends that you use one low-pass filter on each axis, with the cutoff frequency set to a value that is 8 - 15x the first open-loop magnitude crossover frequency.
