StepperMicrostepsPerStep Parameter

Default Value: 1

Minimum Value: 1

Maximum Value: None

Units: Microsteps

Type: int

Use the StepperMicrostepsPerStep parameter to specify the number of microsteps per full step of a stepper motor. Larger values of this parameter result in finer positioning resolution and smoother motor operation.

When you use a stepper motor that does not have a feedback device, the axis is commanded in terms of the microsteps of the motor. In this configuration, you must set the CountsPerUnit Parameter to the number of microsteps per unit.

When you use a stepper motor with a feedback device, the axis is commanded in terms of feedback units, and the CountsPerUnit Parameter specifies the number of feedback counts per unit. In this configuration, the StepperMicrostepsPerStep parameter and the MotorPolePitch Parameter specify the effective microstepping resolution and should typically be equal to or greater than the effective feedback resolution. The drive uses these parameters to automatically calculate the number of microsteps per feedback count.
