Supermicro X13SAE PC Specifications and BIOS Settings

General Specifications

  • Supermicro X13SAE

    • Supermicro X13SAE is a motherboard only (no CPU, RAM, SSD, power supply, or chassis).

    • You can purchase a fully configured PC with this motherboard from Supermicro or from a vendor such as BSI.

  • Intel® Core™ i5-12500 or Intel® Core™ i5-12600

Controller Support

  • Automation1 2.7 and newer: The Supermicro X13SAE has good performance with INtime 7, which is automatically installed by the Automation1 iSMC installer if INtime is not currently on the PC.
  • Automation1 2.6 and older:
  • During limited testing at Aerotech, the Supermicro X13SAE worked with Automation1 and the version of INtime that is distributed with Automation1 2.6 and older. But, the Supermicro X13SAE might have performance problems because of the older version of INtime.
  • If necessary, contact Global Technical Support for instructions on how to manually apply a custom INtime 7 upgrade so that the Supermicro X13SAE can work with Automation1.

Windows Support

  • Automation1 has been tested to make sure that it works with Windows 10 and Windows 11 when used with Supermicro X13SAE.
  • Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is enabled by default on Windows 11 configurations and is also common on Windows 10 configurations. You must disable TPM and all of the features that depend on it, such as BitLocker and drive encryption, so that Automation1 will have good real-time performance.

Configuration Tested by Aerotech

The list that follows includes information that you should know when you purchase a Supermicro X13SAE motherboard.

  • Intel® 12th generation processors can have Performance-cores (P-cores) and Efficient-cores (E-cores). Aerotech recommends the i5 processor that has only P-cores because the E-cores do not have satisfactory real-time performance.

    • If you select an i5, i7, or i9 processor with E-cores, you must disable the E-cores in the BIOS so that the PC works with Automation1.

    • Aerotech recommends the i5-12500 and i5-12600 because they have only P-cores and have good real-time performance.

  • You can select a different amount of RAM. Make sure that you order two RAM sticks so that you can use both CPU memory channels.

  • You can customize the size of your SSD.
  • Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 770 has better real-time performance than a dedicated graphics card.
