Converting Drives from A3200 to Automation1

You must migrate the hardware before you migrate the software. When you migrate the hardware, your existing A3200 HyperWire drives change to Automation1 HyperWire drives.

IMPORTANT: After you convert the firmware, you can use your HyperWire drives only with Automation1. You cannot continue to use them with the A3200 software.

To Migrate Your Drive Firmware from A3200 to Automation1

  1. Make sure that the PC you are using has A3200 6.04 installed.
  2. IMPORTANT: For more information, refer to the topics that follow in A3200 Help. For instructions about how to install the A3200 software, refer to the Installing the Software topic. For information about the types of PCs that are approved for A3200 installation, refer to the System Requirements topic.

  3. Connect all of your HyperWire drives to the PC that has A3200 6.04 installed. Then power on the drives.
  4. Click A3200ToAutomation1Migration.zip to automatically download the zip file. Then extract the file to a folder on your PC.
  5. Tip: Extract A3200ToAutomation1Migration.zip to a folder on your PC that you can easily find. This zip file contains three software installations that are necessary for the procedures in this guide.

  6. Make sure the folder to which you extracted the files has an A3200-to-Automation1.loda file.
  7. Open A3200 Firmware Loader.
  8. In the Controller Info section of the firmware loader dialog, make sure that A3200 Firmware Loader shows all of your connected HyperWire drives.
  9. In the Files section of A3200 Firmware Loader, click the Browse button. Then select the A3200-to-Automation1.loda file that you downloaded and extracted.
  10. In the Files section of A3200 Firmware Loader, click the Program button. A warning dialog comes into view and asks Do you still want to use the specified file? Click Yes to continue. Firmware Loader loads firmware for the next several minutes.
  11. DANGER: Do not disconnect power from the drives while the firmware is loading. If you disconnect power, severe damage occurs and you will have to send the unit back to Aerotech for repair.

  12. After the firmware loading process completes, make sure that the Firmware version for all of your HyperWire drives is 1.02.000.1080.
