Galvo Overview

Automation1 has galvo marking capabilities when you use it with GI4 or GL4 hardware. The GI4 and GL4 are galvo drives that control a galvo scanner.

IMPORTANT: Galvo and IFOV functionality are available only when you use a PC-based controller.

WARNING: The GI4 and GL4 can control a laser scan system. When you install and use one of these galvo drives, obey all laser safety rules. You are responsible for the laser safety of your system.

See the Working With Galvo 2D Axis Calibration Tables section of the Calibration Topic page to create, open, edit, and merge Galvo 2D Axis Calibration files that you can use with an Aerotech controller.

See Galvo and IFOV Functions for information about the different programming features and their syntax.

See Galvo Power Correction to make corrections to the laser power output on the galvo axes of a galvo drive.

See Enhanced Scanner Control (ESC) for information about the optional ESC hardware and software. You can order this option for the GL4 two-axis laser scan-head drive. ESC uses an advanced system model to decrease tracking error.
